All students must meet the following requirements in order to successfully complete Summer Bridge:

  • Attendance: Students must attend all classes, workshops, and seminars, arriving on time and staying for the entire class.
  • Preparation: Students must come to class ready to discuss course material.
  • Participation: Students must be attentive and participate in all classroom activities.
  • Academic Performance: Students must receive a grade of C or better in a graded course, or a Pass in a Pass/Not Passed course.

For some students, Summer Bridge is a condition of admission to Cal. These students must successfully complete the Summer Bridge Program in order to attend Cal in the fall. In other words, in order to successfully complete the Summer Bridge program, students must not drop any classes and they must pass all courses that they are enrolled in. If students who have been mandated do not successfully complete the Summer Bridge program, their fall admissions can be revoked.

Seminars

Each Summer Bridge student is required to attend weekly seminars that are developed and administered by Student Life Advising Services/Educational Opportunity Program. Seminars are designed to facilitate students' transitions into an academically successful and well-balanced college lifestyle. Seminars focus on academic and social areas, personal development, and financial aid. Seminar leaders provide instruction about academic requirements and understanding faculty expectations.

Workshops
